A Tale of 3 Painters… Week 1 Summary

How time flies!
We're already a week into our month of charity painting and we're starting to see progress on all fronts.

Hoffman
Andy posted recently about his progress with the Watcher and showing off Hoffman at a very early stage. Having held the Hoffman model in my hand and knowing how slight it is I'm blown away with the detail Andy has achieved – the fact that the detail holds up to close photographic inspection highlights the quality of his painting.

Ryle
Michael was very quickly out of the blocks this week and the first to post about his progress. His bold painting style gives Ryle a graphic-novel quality that makes him look like he just stepped off the printed page. This is absolutely perfect for Ryle's character in-game and I am really looking forward to seeing his progress.

The Guardian
As for myself, I was keen to get a good start. Being the slow painter I am means there was the very real danger of it all being last minute at the end of the month. Despite being rather hamstrung by tonsillitis last weekend I managed to get to grips with the metallics, making good use of my Vallejo Matt Medium, and jumped in with some red armour coverage. The resulting "Medieval Iron Man" (thanks to Laughing Ferret for the name) is very much in keeping with Malifaux and, whilst not there yet, is definitely heading in the right direction.

Alongside the painting progress we have been very lucky and picked up support from Fenris Games (creators of excellent resin bases, miniatures and scenery), Firestorm Games (suppliers of almost everything wargame-related you could ever want) and the creators of Malifaux themselves Wyrd Miniatures who are all contributing to our final auction.

So, a lot has happened in the first week – pressure's on for week 2!!

As much as we are enjoying this project, it is for charity. If you enjoy reading about our progress please donate towards our final total – even if it's only £1 – via the donate button at the top of the page or on the Cancer Research UK website directly.
